JEN BREEN

Jen began dancing at age three and hasn’t stopped since. She received her early training at the Bernie Knapp School of Dance in Warren and continued at Lambert Dance Theatre in Waterford. There, she was classically trained in ballet (Cecchetti method), tap, jazz, and flamenco, and also taught jazz classes. She also performed supporting ballerina roles in Terri Newman’s The Nutcracker with The Dance Shoppe. Jen continued her dance journey at Albion College, where she was accepted onto the Albion College Dance Team, eventually becoming co-captain. She choreographed and performed hip hop routines for campus events and basketball games, while also taking part in the college’s Musical Theatre program. During this time, she trained with guest choreographers and instructors - taking hip hop with Michelle Marzejon of MADPAC Brighton, studying tango, and teaching private hip hop lessons.

After college, Jen fell in love with Latin dance just as Zumba® was growing in popularity. What began as taking local classes quickly evolved into becoming a licensed Zumba instructor with a devoted following. She trained annually at the Zumba® Convention in Florida, learning a wide range of Latin styles and connecting with instructors from around the world. Her choreography was featured in Zumba training sessions, and she competed internationally with a crew, earning a spot as a top-three finalist. Locally, she performed at major events including Arts, Beats & Eats and the Detroit Pistons Halftime Show.

As her classes grew, Jen co-founded Mueva Fitness in Clarkston in 2012 with two colleagues - a community-focused group fitness studio where she began (and continues) teaching Zumba, hip hop dance fitness, and Beginner Hip Hop choreography classes, while also hosting visiting instructors from across the country.

Eager to return to her hip hop roots, Jen joined Jordan Mac Studios in 2013 and has been part of the community ever since - taking Intermediate and Advanced Hip Hop classes, attending the Fall Dance Camp Retreat, and participating in the studio’s LA Dance Trips. Training at world-renowned studios such as Millennium Dance Complex and The Playground LA, alongside Jordan Mac dancers and staff, has been one of the highlights of her dance career. RILEY GAIDICA

DSC00436_edited.jpg

Riley has been dancing since the age of 3 and truly grew up in the dance and cheer competition world. It is no wonder that the studio is still her happy place 25 years later! Growing up, she trained in Ballet, Contemporary/Lyrical, Jazz, Hip-Hop, Tumbling, and Musical Theatre but was always drawn to the sassy nature and quick pace of Jazz. After competing for 10 years, she went on to be a part of the Northville High School Dance Team, where she also participated in many Theatre Productions and an acapella group of 10 women called the Treblemakers.

Following her graduation at Kent State University, Riley headed straight for the big apple - New York City. While working in Bridal Fashion there, she began to get involved in the dancing community at Broadway Dance Center, dabbled in her first heels class and never looked back. Heels provides so much more than what meets the eye and that is what Riley loves the most about it. There is of course technique involved, but it also allows dancers to get in touch with their sensual, sexy and confident self - which is something Riley hopes to provide to all of her students. She went on to get accepted into Broadway Dance Centers Independent Training Program where she trained with some of the most iconic names in the industry in New York and successfully choreographed her first piece for her Student Showcase. That piece is what motivated her to continue choreographing and create her own Burlesque Jazz class in 2023.

Her passion for connecting with creative souls and creating a safe space for dancers to feel good in their bodies still ring true to this day and she is so excited to join this amazing community.

Riley teaches Tuesdays Intermediate Heels 7pm at our studio. Come take a course with her!
