HIP HOP

Hip hop dance is an energetic form of dance that combines a variety of freestyle movements to create a cultural piece of art. Hip hop dance has evolved into one of the most popular and influential styles of dance.

Beginner

Focus on teaching foundational moves such as the two-step, body rolls, sliding, popping, locking, and basic footwork. Students will also learn the importance of rhythm, musicality, and performance, all while fostering a supportive and inclusive environment

Intermediate

In Intermediate Hip Hop, it's helpful to have a solid foundation of the basic moves. This includes footwork like the running man, up-rocks, body rolls, and cross steps. You should also be comfortable moving with some rhythm and picking up choreography at a moderate pace

Advanced

In Advanced Hip Hop, be sure you have a solid foundation in the fundamentals. . Advanced classes will build on all the skills from prior classes, incorporating faster tempos, more complex choreography, and potentially different styles of hip hop within a single routine.

HEELS

Heels dance leaves you feeling sexy and empowered. Heels dance can be performed to a variety of music genres, including pop, hip-hop, and R&B.

Beginner

​Students can expect to learn foundational moves such as body rolls, hip isolations, and basic walks in heels. We also focus on building strength and confidence in dancing in heels, while incorporating elements of jazz, hip-hop, and contemporary dance styles. Students will also have the opportunity to learn choreography that combines these fundamental moves into a dynamic and engaging routine.

Intermediate

In Intermediate Heels, you should have a solid foundation in basic walking, turning, and isolations in heels. You'll likely encounter more complex choreography, faster footwork, and increased focus on body control and musicality.

Advanced

In our Advanced Heels course, be prepared to push your skills! You'll likely encounter faster choreography, more complex footwork, and a focus on advanced techniques. Make sure you have a solid foundation in basic balance, walks, and turns.

STREET

Street dance is a vibrant and diverse art form that encompasses a wide range of social dance styles. Other Styles of street dance include: popping, locking, whacking, and voguing.

House Dance

House dance is all about feeling the rhythm of house music. It combines smooth, flowing footwork with quick and sharp upper body movements. It’s known for its groovy vibe, improvisation, and energetic floorwork. Think of it as a dance that lets you vibe with the music while showing off your individuality.

House Party Moves

These are the fun, casual dance moves you’d break out at a party. They’re simple, easy-to-learn grooves like the "two-step" or "running man," designed to keep the energy high and the vibe fun. It’s all about enjoying yourself and connecting with the crowd.

Breakdancing

Breakdancing, or breaking, is a dynamic style that’s all about strength, control, and creativity. It features moves like spins, flips, and freezes, often done close to the ground. It’s one of the most physically demanding dance styles, but it’s also super expressive, with endless room to showcase your personal style.

Popping

Popping is a funky dance style where you make your muscles quickly contract and release, creating sharp, jerky movements that match the beat of the music. It’s often paired with smooth isolations and robot-like movements, making it look like you’re playing with time and space.

Locking

Locking is a playful, energetic style where you "lock" your body into specific positions, like a freeze, before bursting into another move. It’s packed with personality and fun, using exaggerated gestures like pointing, clapping, and big arm movements to interact with the music—and sometimes the audience!

JAZZ

Jazz is a popular and dynamic dance style that uses isolations, sharp and fluid movements, and syncopated rhythms. It emphasizes individuality and encourages dancers to bring their own personality and style to the dance.

Beginner

In our beginner jazz course at Jordan Mac Adult Dance, you can expect a lively and energetic atmosphere where you'll learn the fundamental techniques of jazz dance. Our experienced instructors will lead you through a warm-up, followed by exercises to improve your flexibility, strength, and coordination. You'll also learn classic jazz movements, such as isolations, turns, and leaps, while also focusing on musicality and rhythm. Throughout the class, emphasis will be placed on developing your own unique style and expression

Intermediate

For the Intermediate Jazz Course, a student should have experience in basic jazz movements like kicks, turns, and leaps. They should also be comfortable moving across the floor with different locomotor skills like skips, lunges, and jazz walks. Familiarity with basic musicality and counting rhythms will also be helpful, as intermediate courses will likely build upon these skills and introduce more complex choreography

Advanced

In our Advanced Jazz course, be prepared for a fast-paced and energetic environment. The course will utilize jazz techniques, so familiarity with turns, jumps, and flexibility is a must. Advanced jazz is all about expressing yourself through movement, so don't be afraid to have fun and let loose

BALLET

​Our experienced instructors will guide you through basic positions, steps, and combinations, helping you develop strength, flexibility, and grace. You will learn proper body alignment, posture, and the importance of musicality in ballet.

Beginner

In a beginner ballet dance course at Jordan Mac Adult Dance, students will learn foundational movements such as pliés, tendus, dégagés, and rond de jambes. These moves focus on developing strength, flexibility, and grace while also teaching proper body alignment and posture. Students will also practice basic jumps, turns, and arm positions to build a strong technical foundation. Each class will incorporate a warm-up, center work, and across-the-floor exercises to ensure a well-rounded and dynamic learning experience.

Intermediate

​Our Intermediate Ballet course builds on a foundation of basic steps and positions. You should have knowledge of basic barre warm ups and stretches. Be prepared for faster combinations, more complex turns and jumps, and a deeper focus on proper technique and musicality. Expect to sweat and feel challenged, but also to experience the joy of pushing your ballet skills to a new level.

Advanced

​For our Advanced Ballet course, be sure you have a strong ballet foundation. This means mastering basic techniques like turnout, proper alignment, and flexibility. Advanced courses move quickly and focus on complex steps and proper terminology.

CONTEMPORARY

Contemporary is a genre of dance that emerged in the mid-20th century as a response to traditional forms of ballet and modern dance. It is a highly expressive and experimental style of dance that incorporates a wide range of movements, from fluid and graceful to abrupt and angular.

Beginner

In our beginner contemporary course at Jordan Mac Adult Dance, students will learn a variety of fundamental and expressive movements that are characteristic of contemporary dance. This may include techniques such as floor work, contractions, release technique, and fluid movement through space. Students will also work on developing strength, flexibility, and musicality while exploring the emotional and narrative aspects of contemporary dance. Our classes are designed to provide a supportive and inclusive environment where students can learn and grow at their own pace, regardless of prior dance experience.

Intermediate

For the Intermediate Contemporary course, be prepared to build on your foundation. This course will likely move faster, with more complex choreography and an increased focus on technical elements. It's helpful to have a basic understanding of contemporary movement and some experience with floor work and flexibility. Most importantly, embrace the idea of exploration and expressing yourself through new movements with your body.

Advanced

​In our Advanced Contemporary course, be prepared for a physically demanding and expressive experience. A strong foundation in dance technique is key, along with a good understanding of floorwork, improvisation, jumps and leg work. Expect complex choreography that pushes your flexibility, stamina, and artistry

GROOVES

Grooves is all about music, natural movement, and self-expression. It typically emphasizes having fun, feeling the music, and building confidence rather than strict choreography or technique. The goal is to explore your own style and "groove" to the music in a relaxed and welcoming environment.
